Jimmy Kimmel is mocking Alabama Republican Sen. Katie Britt at the Academy Awards for her infamous State of the Union reply.
The late-night TV personality hit the stage at the 96th annual Oscars on Sunday, delivering a slew of quick witticisms directed primarily at the Hollywood personalities in attendance.
However, in an otherwise politically neutral speech, Kimmel made a dig at Britt without addressing the congressman by name.
Kimmel described Emma Stone’s Oscar-nominated performance in the film “Poor Things” as “an adult woman with a child’s brain.”
“Like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union,” Kimmel said, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Britt was extensively chastised on social media—aand mocked on “Saturday Night Live” with Scarlett Johansson impersonating her—ffor what some called a “melodramatic” response to President Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday.
Kimmel, a frequent opponent of former President Trump, had told CNN before his Oscars hosting stint that he would add a political remark to his monologue “at the last minute” during the awards show, depending on the news cycle.
