Kari Lake Aims To Forfeit Her Defense In Defamation Case

Attorneys representing Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake have decided to forfeit the defamation case against her. They have chosen not to contest the allegations that she defamed a state election worker following the 2022 election.

The lawsuit alleges that Lake continuously and systematically fabricated false information about Richer’s actions as recorder, resulting in him being subjected to harassment and numerous threats on his life. Richer further stated that Lake made baseless accusations, claiming that he had tampered with ballot boxes by adding 300,000 invalid votes and intentionally creating confusion on the ballot for voters.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he expressed his refusal and inability to defend himself. He acknowledged that he will face consequences but emphasized that it is the millions of people who were deceived by her lies that truly deserve justice.

He continued by expressing his frustration towards the thousands of individuals who had donated to support Kari’s cause and the people who had ended up facing legal consequences due to their unwavering belief in her deceitful claims. According to him, these individuals would not receive the recognition they deserved.

Lake dismissed the filing as a refusal to take part in what she deemed a “political witch hunt” and a “frivolous” lawsuit, steadfastly refusing to accept any responsibility.

In a heartfelt video message, she expressed her frustration with the corrupt system in Washington, D.C. According to her, the city runs on blackmail and bribes, but since she cannot be manipulated in that way, they have resorted to filing a lawsuit against her. She believes that their goal is to stop her and drain her financially. Despite the threat of losing everything she owns, including her home and leaving her family destitute, she remains steadfast in her determination. She asserts that even if they succeed in taking everything from her, it will not deter her or her family.

Lake is in a challenging race against Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) for the seat of the retiring Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). Early polls show that Gallego has a slight lead over Lake, making this race a crucial battleground for both parties in the fight to control the Senate.
