Kim Mulkey Makes Inappropriate Comment Following Lsu Vs. South Carolina Brawl

Kim Mulkey is about as controversial as sports coaches go, so it’s no surprise she made a very classless postgame remark following LSU’s loss to South Carolina in the SEC Tournament Championship on Sunday.

The SEC clash between the two powerhouses culminated in a nasty brawl. Flau’jae Johnson bumped a South Carolina player late in the fourth quarter, prompting USC’s Kamilla Cardoso to push Johnson to the ground. Following that, chaos ensued, and it took the refs roughly 20 minutes to get things under control.

Mulkey, of course, addressed the altercation following the game. Rather than apologize on behalf of her squad, the LSU head coach took a different approach.

Mulkey, 61, acknowledged that she wishes Cardoso had shoved LSU’s Angel Reese rather than Johnson, given that Reese is five inches taller. Mulkey believes it would have been a fairer contest.

“No one wants to see that ugliness,” Mulkey said of the altercation. “But I can tell you this: I wish she had pushed Angel Reese. “You’re 6’8. Don’t push someone so lightly. That was unacceptable in my opinion.”

She makes a valid point, but instigating violence in any form is entirely unnecessary.

Meanwhile, Cardoso has apologized for her conduct that resulted in the incident on Sunday.

“I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my actions during today’s game. My behavior was not representative of who I am as a person or the South Carolina program, and I deeply regret any discomfort or inconvenience it may have caused. I take full responsibility for my actions and assure you that I am committed to conducting myself with the utmost respect and sportsmanship in the future,” Cardoso said on social media .

Mulkey and the Tigers have a lot to ponder about ahead of selection Sunday on March 17.
