Marvel Actor Jonathan Majors Avoids Jail Time After Judge Agrees To Da-recommended Domestic- Violence Program

On Monday, Jonathan Majors, a former Marvel star, received a 52-week domestic violence program sentence instead of jail time for a violent fight with his then-girlfriend in New York City’s Chinatown last year.

“In love, there should not be violence,” Grace Jabbari, the actor’s ex-girlfriend, said in a victim-impact statement, criticizing him for never admitting to violence, even in a nationally broadcast appearance on ABC News following his conviction.

“His statements continue to cause me, my family, and my loved ones harm,” Jabbari said to the judge on Monday, crying as Majors listened with his head lowered at the defense table.

“He is not apologizing. “He has not accepted responsibility, and he will do it again,” she stated. “He will hurt other people.”

In sentencing the singer to a 52-week in-person “batterers intervention” program, Judge Michael Gaffey of the New York City Criminal Court said he considered prosecutors’ desires as well as Majors’ lack of a criminal record.

If Majors, a Los Angeles resident, fails to attend the program and maintain rehabilitation, he may face up to a year in a New York jail.

The judge also issued a permanent order of protection, prohibiting Majors from communicating with Jabbari.

Majors did not speak in court. Priya Chaudhry, his attorney, stated that he would keep silent due to Jabbari’s pending federal lawsuit against him.

According to the lawyer, the incident has cost the actor his job and caused him significant emotional and financial distress.

Majors appeared in court with his actor girlfriend, Meagan Good. Meagan Good dabbed her eyes with her fingertips when the judge announced that Majors would not go to jail.

She sat in the courtroom audience, just behind Major’s place at the defense table. Before proceeding, the two exchanged glances, with Majors once giving her the thumbs up.

Majors faced anything from no jail time to a year in prison after a jury convicted him of misdemeanor reckless assault and a lesser charge of harassment in December.

Jabbari described Majors as a manipulative “monster” during her testimony against him.

Majors was a rising talent until his arrest in March 2023. He was recognized as a warrior in “Creed III” as well as the Marvel supervillain Kang the Conqueror. He recently appeared in season two of Disney+’s smash show “Loki.”

Jabbari, 30, a London movement instructor, met Majors, 34, in 2021 on the set of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.”

She testified to jurors at last year’s misdemeanor trial, stating that Majors struck her in the head so hard that her ear bled and twisted her right hand so forcefully that her finger fractured.

Chaudhry claimed that video footage from the hours following the fight revealed she was unharmed.

She claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor in the altercation, in which the couple fought over Majors’ smartphone in the back seat of his chauffeured sedan.

Jabbari claimed that Majors had received a text message from another lady saying, “Wish I was kissing you,” and she had grabbed his phone away to check who sent it.

Prosecutors dropped Majors’ cross-complaint against Jabbari, which accused her of slashing his face and arm during the struggle and then stealing from him.

The actor must return to court on September 13 to provide an update.
