Mike Tyson Says He’s “Scared To Death” Ahead Of Fight With Jake Paul

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has admitted that he is feeling extremely fearful about his upcoming fight against social media sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Tyson expressed his genuine terror, emphasizing the intensity of his emotions leading up to the highly anticipated match.

“Iron Mike” revealed during an interview with Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity on Tuesday night that he has a fearless approach to life. According to him, he takes on any challenge or task that scares him, showing his determination to overcome his fears.

“I face anything I’m afraid of,” he confidently stated. “That’s just who I am. Even though I’m scared to death right now, as the fight draws nearer, my nerves gradually diminish because this is the real deal. And in the real world, I’m unstoppable.”

Mike Tyson confidently stated that he trains daily and firmly believes that his opponent, Jake Paul, is not faster than him, despite being half his age. The 57-year-old boxing legend also acknowledged that Paul has made significant progress since his earlier days as a YouTube influencer.

During an interview with Hannity, he made it clear that the opponent he is going to face is not the typical guy. He emphasized that this individual will attempt to inflict harm upon him, something he is well-accustomed to. In his confident statement, he asserted that his opponent will be gravely mistaken in underestimating him.

In March, Netflix made an announcement that Tyson would be facing Paul in a live match on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Texas. The stadium, which is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, has a seating capacity of approximately 80,000 people.

Mike Tyson, the former undisputed world heavyweight champion, has not stepped into the boxing ring since his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, which resulted in a draw. Tyson, who held the title from 1987 to 1990, retired in 2005 after an impressive career with 50 victories, 44 of which were won by knockout.

Paul made the transition to professional boxing four years ago and has been making quite a name for himself ever since. Out of his last 10 fights, he emerged victorious in nine, with an impressive six knockouts. However, he did experience a setback last year when he faced off against Tommy Fury, the half-brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and suffered his only defeat.
