MSNBC’s Lawrence O’donnell Quickly Dismisses Trump South Carolina Primary Victory, Calling It A Disaster

Aiexpress – All three major cable news networks declared Donald Trump the winner in South Carolina’s GOP primary over Nikki Haley mere seconds after the polls closed on Saturday. However, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell dismissed the numbers as “disastrous” for the former president.

According to O’Donnell, Trump should not be content with the current outcome in South Carolina. He is currently leading with approximately 57% of the primary votes, while Haley has secured about 42%. However, it is important to note that these results are based on only a quarter of the votes being counted.

O’Donnell expressed deep concern over the numbers, stating that they were nothing short of disastrous for Donald Trump.

President Joe Biden’s sweeping victory in the South Carolina primary, where he secured an overwhelming 96% of the vote, did not come as a surprise to many. As a sitting president with the full support of the Democratic National Committee, Biden faced longshot contenders like Representative Dean Phillips (D-MN) in the race.

“These numbers spell disaster for Donald Trump. Absolute disaster. That’s why I brought up the overlooked figure from South Carolina, where Joe Biden received a staggering 96% of the votes. That’s the kind of support he should be aiming for, but Donald Trump won’t even come close,” O’Donnell emphasized.

According to his prediction, Haley is expected to secure around one-third of the support in the primary. He further asserts that even if only a small portion of these Haley supporters refrain from voting for Trump in the general election, it would greatly favor Biden.

“We’re uncertain about the outcome of this election tonight, but it’s expected to yield a significant number of votes. It could potentially account for one-third of the total votes,” he stated. “A substantial portion of those votes could be left up for grabs by another candidate. In reality, you only need to secure 5% of that 30%. We’re essentially talking about a small fraction.”

Rachel Maddow criticized Trump for winning South Carolina by a large margin, stating that it was not a good look for him. Stephanie Ruhle declared Biden as the winner of the night, a sentiment that Joe Reid echoed. Reid suggested that the Biden campaign should closely examine the voters who chose Haley over Trump, as winning over even a small percentage of them could harm Trump’s chances.

According to CNN exit polls, the South Carolina primary revealed that only 45% of voters identified themselves as part of Trump’s MAGA movement, while 49% stated that they are not associated with it.
