Police: 4 People Dead After Train Crashes Into Pickup At Idaho Railroad Crossing

Over the weekend, a train collided with a pickup truck on a southwestern Idaho road, killing four people, according to officials.

The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling on a private road that intersected a railroad crossing when an incoming train collided with the truck at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, according to Idaho State Police. The four people in the pickup—a 38-year-old male, a 36-year-old woman, and two juveniles—died on the spot.

State police stated the truck driver “failed to yield” at the crossing in Canyon County, Idaho.

State police said all four people were from Nampa, Idaho. The department stated it is working with the Canyon County Coroner to contact the next of kin, and the collision is still being investigated.

According to federal data, fatal train crossing accidents in the United States have surged after falling in 2020, when the COVID-19 epidemic began.
