Suspect Apprehended In Beating Of 16-year-old Girl In Subway In Brooklyn: Sources

A suspect has been arrested in the beating of a 16-year-old girl on a Brooklyn subway train last month, police said Tuesday.

The NYPD says that police were using cellphone videos of the attack to try to figure out who the two suspects were.

Two men threw water and soda at a 16-year-old girl who was walking on Nostrand Avenue in East Flatbush around 9 p.m. on February 27. The girl got on the No. 2 train at the Newkirk Avenue-Little Haiti stop, and police say the two suspects followed her on board.

Police say one of the accused hit the victim in the face and threw water at them. Police say that a second suspect then jumped up and kicked the girl in the face.

As told to PIX11 News, the victim, whose name was Sharla, described the terrifying event.

Shalĭ said, “He hit me in the eye.” “When I told him to leave my presence, he struck and spat at me.”

The victim’s mother, Sabine Mondesir, said she couldn’t watch the whole tape.

“I saw half, but I couldn’t finish.” It hurts to see your kid get kicked. They said, “It was too much.”

She said that the boys had been picking on her since January.

Their niece Sharla said, “They were laughing about the whole thing and saying that no one was going to hurt them.”

She said she was afraid for her safety now.

Sharla said, “Until they are found, I really can’t go anywhere.” “I need to stay safe. I just want to feel safe enough to go out without worrying that something bad will happen.

Sharla’s mom said she’s been taking her to and from school and even took her out of the after-school program to keep her safe.

The mother of a girl said, “I just want them caught and justice for my daughter.”
