The hip-hop community was devastated by the news of DJ Mister Cee’s passing on April 10. Recently, his family disclosed the cause of death for the legendary hip-hop icon.
According to a report by the Medical Examiner of New York City, DJ Mister Cee passed away due to complications from diabetes, specifically coronary artery and kidney disease.
The family, in addition, issued a statement.
In the 1980s, Mister Cee made his entrance into the hip-hop scene as the DJ for Brooklyn emcee Big Daddy Kane, whom he met in high school. As Kane honed his lyrical prowess, Mister Cee honed his DJ skills. This partnership led to the release of Kane’s debut album, “Long Live the Kane,” in 1988.
Mister Cee played a crucial role in the early days of The Notorious B.I.G.’s career, before he became a prominent figure in the radio industry. Christopher Wallace, also known as The Notorious B.I.G., had the support of Mister Cee right from the start. In fact, Mister Cee’s influence played a key role in securing Biggie’s record deal with Bad Boy Records.
During his career, he not only produced records and performed globally but also established himself as a prominent radio DJ. He held positions at Hot 97, RADIO 103.9, Rock the Bells Radio, and 94.7 The Block until his unfortunate passing.
