Trump calls on Biden to apologize for celebrating ‘Trans Day of Visibility’ on Easter Sunday

Former President Trump demanded an urgent apology to millions of Christians and Catholics after President Biden stirred outrage by declaring March 31 “Transgender Day of Visibility,” which coincides with Easter Sunday this year.

Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, termed it “appalling and insulting” because Biden “formally proclaimed Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility.'”

Leavitt described the president’s remarks as part of the Biden administration’s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.”

“We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only—tthe resurrection of Jesus Christ,” she said in a statement.

According to Leavitt, the Biden administration’s decision follows the White House’s restriction on religious egg designs at its Easter Art Event. The art contest is part of the White House’s Easter celebrations, which also feature the annual Easter egg roll.

The contest leaflet notes that an Easter egg design submission “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”

The American Egg Board developed the egg-decorating criteria, which have been in place for 45 years, according to a representative for the Office of the First Lady.

Since Biden took office, March 31 has been the day to honor the transgender movement, but this year it coincides with Easter Sunday, one of the most significant days for Christians as they celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

“On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect union—wwhere all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives,” the White House said in a statement.

Today, we aim to convey a message to all transgender Americans: we love you. You’re heard. You’re understood. You belong.” You are America, and my entire administration and I have your back,” it added. “NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph R. Biden Jr.., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility.”

Trump demanded an apology from Biden after prominent politicians and right commentators expressed displeasure at the ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’ on the most solemn Christian festival.

“The Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter—which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote on X. It is obscene and repugnant to ban religious truth and tradition while simultaneously promoting Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day’. “The American people are taking note.”

Caitlyn Jenner, a former Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, stated on X that the “only thing you should be declaring on this day is ‘HE is Risen’.”

“I am absolutely disgusted that Joe Biden has declared the most holy of holy days—a self-proclaimed devout Catholic—a Transgender Day of Visibility,” Jenner said in a statement. “The only thing you should be declaring on this day is ‘HE is Risen’.”

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, tweeted on X, “This is the left’s new religion. They want people to worship the trans flag rather than God.” They must be stopped.”

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy criticized Biden on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “Joe Biden recently declared that ‘Transgender Visibility Day’ is on Sunday, March 31st.” I wonder how he came up with that date.”

Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., shared Ramaswamy’s remarks, criticizing Biden for the “coincidence on timing.”

Tennessee Republican Rep. Diana Harshbarger described the news as “intentional” and a “blatant disregard.”

“This is an outright assault on Christianity.” It’s clear the left is out to undermine our religion and traditions,” she wrote on X. “This isn’t just blatant disregard; it’s intentional.”

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson took a screenshot of the White House statement and wrote, “What a slap in the face to all Christians in America.”

The White House published a statement claiming that criticism of the ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’, which coincided with Easter, was divisive.

“As a Christian who celebrates Easter with family, President Biden stands for bringing people together and upholding the dignity and freedoms of every American,” he said in a statement. “Sadly, it is unexpected that politicians use nasty, hateful, and dishonest speech to divide and damage our society. “President Biden will never use his faith for political gain or profit.”
