Trump Risks Another Defamation Trial With E. Jean Carroll Attack

Donald Trump’s recent criticism of columnist E. Jean Carroll has triggered renewed calls for her to file a defamation lawsuit against him, marking the third time she would take legal action.

In January, a court ordered the former president to pay Carroll a sum of $83.3 million for his remarks following her public accusation of rape in a luxury department store dressing room in New York City. This ruling followed a previous jury decision in May of last year, where Trump was found liable for sexual assault and defamation, resulting in a $5 million award to Carroll.

In order to guarantee that E. Jean Carroll will be awarded the damages if her defamation cases against Trump are successful on appeal, he recently posted a $92-million bond.

Despite his increasing legal expenses, the presumed Republican candidate has persisted in criticizing Carroll and the individuals involved in multiple cases against him. He currently faces four criminal charges and has been slapped with a $454 million civil fraud penalty by a New York state judge. The judge concluded that he had manipulated his net worth in financial statements over a period of several years.

On Saturday, Trump launched a fresh attack on Carrol in a post on Truth Social.

“How many corrupt, biased, and crooked New York judges in Joe Biden’s protection agency do I have to endure before somebody steps in?” Trump expressed in his post.

“I found myself in a courtroom with New York Federal Judge, Lewis Kaplan, alongside a woman whom I had never met before and had no connection with. Surprisingly, she had filed a lawsuit against me for ‘defamation.’ It was puzzling to see that she had no knowledge of the exact date or even the year when the alleged ‘incident’ supposedly occurred. It seemed like she was completely clueless about the matter.”

After Trump made his remarks, social media users were quick to express their support for Carroll, urging her to file a third lawsuit against him.

Author Majid M. Padellan expressed a strong opinion on the matter, stating that if Trump continues to defame E. Jean Carroll, she should pursue legal action against him until she obtains all of his assets.

Keith Olbermann, the podcast host, expressed his disapproval of President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about E. Jean Carroll, stating that Trump has once again defamed her.

Carroll’s lawyer has previously stated that her client may take legal action against Trump for defamation once more.

“The statute of limitations for defamation typically ranges from one to three years,” stated Roberta Kaplan in a recent statement. “Following the previous jury verdict, we remain vigilant in tracking any and all remarks made by Donald Trump regarding our client.”
