Two Americans Believed Dead Following Yacht Hijacked, Grenada Police Say

Aiexpress – According to the Royal Grenada Police Force, three inmates who escaped in Grenada are suspected of stealing a yacht and causing the death of two individuals on board, believed to be American citizens. The police force stated in a news release shared on Facebook that the escapees fled custody on Sunday and are thought to have reached the nearby island of St. Vincent on a stolen boat.

The three men, Ron Mitchell, 30, Trevon Robertson, 19, and Abita Stanislaus, 25, were detained in December and charged jointly with one crime of robbery with violence. Mitchell was also charged with one crime of rape, three counts of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and inflicting injury.

The individuals were held at the South St. George Police Station on the small Caribbean island, but managed to escape. Authorities from Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines launched a search operation to locate them. It was later discovered that they had boarded a yacht that was moored in St. George.

The Royal Grenada Police Force is currently investigating leads that indicate the possibility of the two individuals aboard the yacht being killed during the incident, as stated on their official Facebook page. The authorities believe that the occupants of the yacht were American citizens.

A team of senior investigators and a forensic specialist has been dispatched to St. Vincent as the investigation enters its initial phase, according to the police force.
