Several people close to the family say that the 26-year-old woman who was arrested is McLean’s daughter.
A 46-year-old woman found dead in her Westchester Avenue apartment on Monday. Her family and friends hosted a candlelight gathering to remember her life.
Early on Monday morning, police discovered Selma McLean, 46, dead on the floor of her living room. Police say they arrested a woman who is 26 years old that same morning.
Many of the people who came to the gathering say they knew her as Jada. Over 100 people showed up with white and purple candles to remember her. They said they would never forget how kind she was or how good her food was.
According to a family member, the 26-year-old arrested woman is McLean’s daughter. They say she lived with McLean and had mental health problems. They claim she had recently received her release from a mental health center.
Selma McLean’s death has not yet resulted in any charges.
