A 21-year-old man tragically lost his life in Colorado while attempting a daring skiing stunt.
The collision occurred on Highway 40, approximately west of Berthoud Pass Summit, a local mountain pass in the state’s center. The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a Grand County Sheriff’s Office post.
A bystander stated that they performed CPR on the man and that he was “unconscious and not breathing.”
When emergency crews arrived at the site, they discovered that the 21-year-old had already died. Personnel from the Coroner’s Office also arrived at the scene.
Young skier was trying to jump the highway
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was attempting to clear the width of Highway 40 just moments before his tragic death.
The post states that the victim, unfortunately, lacked the required speed and distance and ended up landing on the pavement of the highway. It is mentioned that the victim was wearing a helmet and other protective gear.

According to the post, the traffic on Highway 40 was temporarily disrupted in both directions through Tuesday. The investigators were busy processing the scene and ensuring the privacy of the victim.
