21-year-old goes to great lengths to enroll in high school for romantic purposes

A 21-year-old man from Tennessee was taken into custody by the police for attempting to register at a high school in Michigan with the intention of dating a student he had met online.

On February 13, the suspect arrived at a school district office in Mason County, Michigan, pretending to be a 17-year-old. The individual provided a false name and date of birth.

The employee promptly contacted the building’s school resource officer, Deputy Luke Postma, who discovered several inconsistencies in the man’s account.

The investigators discovered that the man hailed from Fort Campbell, Tennessee. Upon questioning, the suspect openly confessed to the police that he had traveled to the area with the intention of meeting and establishing a romantic relationship with a student from the school whom he had connected with online.

Sheriff Kim Cole emphasized the importance of parents having conversations with their children about the risks associated with online chatting and sharing personal information on the internet and social media platforms.
