Delaware man’s fatal stabbing leads to charges against Waterbury man

A man from Waterbury, Connecticut, aged 33, has been charged in connection with the murder of a man from Delaware. The incident occurred last week, and authorities anticipate more arrests to follow.

At 4:30 a.m. on December 22nd, Waterbury police received a report regarding an unresponsive man.

Police reports indicate that there was a “disturbance” between Jose Virola, a 37-year-old resident of Delaware, and Sean Lawrence from Waterbury. It was revealed that Virola had been previously involved in a disturbance with a woman known to Lawrence, which ultimately led to a physical altercation between the two individuals.

On Wednesday, Lawrence was discovered and subsequently charged with murder, first-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree.

Lawrence, who has a long history of criminal activities, is currently facing other legal charges in New Haven.

The murder of Virola has resulted in the suspect being held on a $3 million bond. Additionally, there is a $20,000 bond in place for the violation of probation.

On Thursday, he made his appearance in Waterbury court for arraignment.

Lawrence has a court appearance scheduled for January 10, 2024.
