Fatal shooting takes the life of a woman in Kansas City

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood located at 25th and Myrtle, just east of Interstate 70 in east Kansas City, shortly after 9 p.m. Eyewitnesses informed the officers that a family member had transported the victim from the scene and had called 911 for assistance while en route to the hospital.

While working at the original crime scene, investigators were informed about the woman’s death and are currently searching for a suspect.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Chelsea Williams, was identified by KCPD on Wednesday afternoon.

Kansas City has reached a grim milestone with its 179th homicide of 2023, matching the record set in 2020 for the city’s deadliest year.
