Alina Alvarado, the mother of Edwards, expressed, “He had the ability to bring joy to anyone’s day, whether he knew them or not. I am taking each day as it comes and staying strong for my other children.”
On Monday, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office successfully located the 2003 SUV that Edwards was driving.
Loved ones are currently faced with the challenge of bringing his remains back from South Florida to New Jersey, a task that comes with a hefty price tag of over $3,500.
“We have set aside some funds for the funeral,” revealed Hector Alvarado, Edwards’ father. “However, we were not prepared for the additional expense of repatriating his body.”
Edwards’ family and friends mourn the loss of a beloved individual who brought light into their lives. He will be deeply missed by many.
Hector Alvarado expressed his determination to ensure that his late grandfather will always be remembered, especially by his three granddaughters. He stated, “I will make sure that his memory lives on through them.”
The family has created a GoFundMe page and is kindly sharing it for those who wish to contribute. They emphasize that every donation, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated.
The death of Edwards and the circumstances surrounding his presence in the canal are currently being investigated by detectives.
