Darius Rucker, the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, taken into custody for drug possession

Rucker, a renowned country singer and the frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish, was recently detained in Franklin, Tennessee. The (Nashville) Tennessean newspaper reported that he was charged with two counts of simple possession and casual exchange, as well as one count of violation of registration law. The arrest took place in Williamson County, Tennessee, approximately 21 miles south of Nashville.

Rucker was granted release on Thursday after posting a bond of $10,500, as reported by The Tennessean.

Darius Rucker’s attorney, Mark Puryear, has confirmed that Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities in relation to misdemeanor charges, as reported by Nashville TV station WSMV.

The substance that Rucker was accused of possessing was not specified in either published report. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by The State for a statement.

Rucker has been a member of the Grammy-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish for a long time. Hootie is scheduled to embark on a summer tour, with a planned performance in August at Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena.

Rucker’s success extends beyond his time with Hootie & the Blowfish, as he has also made a name for himself as a solo artist in the country music genre. With four albums reaching the top spot on the Billboard country charts, he has proven his talent and popularity.
