LAS VEGAS (aiexpress) – A report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department states that a Clark County deputy district attorney was arrested on a DUI charge. The arrest came after she was caught driving at a speed of 73 mph in a 35 mph zone.
According to the report, Kayla Farzaneh-Simmons was driving a white KIA SUV westbound on Sunset Road at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7 when a Metro police officer pulled her over near Rainbow Boulevard.
As the officer searched for evidence of insurance, they detected a noticeable scent of alcohol, despite the fact that she was chewing gum. The report indicated that she had three passengers in the car, prompting the officer to request her to exit the vehicle.
According to the report, when Farzaneh-Simmons was speaking to the officer next to the patrol vehicle, they noticed the smell of alcohol emanating from her. However, she refused to take a sobriety test.
As I helped Farzaneh-Simmons into the back of my patrol vehicle, I noticed that she seemed unsteady on her feet and almost lost her balance. Concerned for her safety, I reached out to offer support. She reassured me, saying, “I’m not that drunk, I promise.”
Farzaneh-Simmons faced charges of DUI and reckless driving after being booked, primarily due to having passengers in the car at the time of the incident. Although a blood draw was conducted, the arrest report did not provide any information regarding the results of the test.
The District Attorney’s Office hired her on September 6, 2022, and she is currently employed with the county. However, the report redacted her date of birth.
