Donald Trump wins Northern Mariana Islands GOP caucuses

Trump has already secured the delegates necessary to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 election. His recent victory in the U.S. territory further strengthens his winning streak within the GOP.

According to a tracker from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill, the Republican race in the Northern Mariana Islands has nine delegates at stake.

President Biden secured the Democratic primary victory in the Northern Mariana Islands this week, as he successfully clinched his party’s nomination.

Vice President Joe Biden won the Democratic primary in the Northern Mariana Islands earlier this week. He was just one vote away from getting his party’s nomination.

Trump and Biden are heading towards a face-off in November, which has left voters feeling apprehensive about a repeat of their intense 2020 showdown. Notably, the former president is running amidst ongoing legal battles, including multiple criminal indictments.

In 2016, Trump emerged victorious in the GOP contest in the territory. However, during the 2020 election, Biden faced a defeat from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who was a presidential candidate at the time, on the Democratic ballot. It’s worth noting that the U.S. territory does not participate in electoral votes for the general election.
