Former Capitol Police Officer Cautions That Another Jan. 6 Incident Is Not Being Prevented

Former U.S. Capitol Police officer, Harry Dunn, issued a strong warning, emphasizing that the lack of accountability at the highest level could potentially lead to another attack on the Capitol similar to the events of January 6, 2021. He expressed concern that nothing has been done to prevent such an occurrence from happening again.

During his appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Dunn, who testified before the House select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol, emphasized the dual significance of accountability.

According to Dunn, the focal point in the upcoming 2024 election is the concept of “democracy” itself, which carries greater significance than any other major issues. He argues that if former President Trump were to return to the Oval Office, it would undermine the Democrats’ aspirations for accomplishing their policy objectives.

“Dunn, a candidate for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District seat, emphasizes that the larger concern at hand is democracy itself. Numerous critical issues hang in the balance, including women’s reproductive rights, gun safety, affordable healthcare, and more. However, all these matters become inconsequential if we have a dictator in the White House who can exercise unlimited power.”

During his testimony, Dunn described how he personally witnessed police officers being attacked during the January 6th riot.

In the Democratic primary, he is currently running with the aim of taking over the seat of retiring Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.). Back in February, he received significant support from House Democrats, including Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), and Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas).
