Tom Cooper, 56, was a top sales agent for Douglas Elliman
Tom Cooper, a highly successful sales agent for Douglas Elliman, played a pivotal role in the closing of a remarkable $18.5 million Greenwich Village brownstone in November.
Vincent Scaldaferri, an eyewitness working at the neighboring building, observed the incident.
According to the New York Post, a neighbor revealed that they had spent Christmas Eve with Cooper and he had expressed that it was the most memorable Christmas Eve he had ever experienced.
Scaldaferri expressed that he was deeply affected by the sight he witnessed.
“It has been absolutely devastating to witness someone’s life tragically cut short like that,” he expressed with deep sorrow.
Police at the scene reported that Cooper had left a suicide note.
Cooper lived in Manhattan for a number of years. Originally hailing from California, he attended UC Berkeley, as mentioned in his brokerage bio.
Cooper recently shared a photo of himself standing next to a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
He took to Facebook on Saturday and enthusiastically mentioned, “I found myself in the stunning lobby of the Police Building located at 240 Centre St!”
A few months back, a number of suicides occurred in New York City buildings. Within a span of just one week this summer, three men tragically chose to end their lives by jumping from these buildings.
