Michigan man falls short of $137 million Mega Millions jackpot, wins $1 million instead

A man from Michigan, who came very close to winning a staggering $137 million, will now have to settle for a still impressive $1 million.

Kyle Becker, a resident of Interlochen, had a stroke of luck when he won a staggering $1 million in the Mega Millions game on October 27th, according to the Michigan Lottery. Although he narrowly missed out on the Mega Ball, which would have granted him an additional $136 million, the 37-year-old’s winnings are still cause for celebration.

Despite the challenges, he remains thankful.

“I am in complete disbelief that this is actually happening, even though I am standing here, officially claiming the prize,” he expressed to the lottery officials.

Becker received the exciting news while he was on his way to go hunting. He made a quick stop at a convenience store to check his Mega Millions ticket.

“When I scanned the ticket, I received a notification to file a claim at the Lottery office,” he shared with the lottery. Curious about the significance of this message, he approached the clerk for clarification. To his surprise, the clerk speculated that he had potentially won a substantial amount, estimating it to be a couple of thousand dollars.”

After climbing into his truck, he eagerly scanned the lottery numbers, his heart racing with anticipation. To his sheer delight, he realized that he had won the coveted $1 million prize. Filled with an overwhelming sense of joy, he wasted no time and immediately reached for his phone, dialing his wife’s number with trembling fingers.

“I had a hard time believing it myself,” Becker confessed to the lottery, “but she didn’t believe me until I sent her a picture of the ticket.”

The lucky numbers drawn on that day were 11, 32, 43, 57, and 70, with the Mega Ball being 6.

Becker recently collected his prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters, where he expressed his plans to utilize the winnings to pay off bills and achieve a debt-free status.
