In Newark, a teen was shot many times

A 13-year-old boy was injured in a shooting incident on the border between Newark and East Orange.

Around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, a lockdown was initiated at Bragaw Avenue School on Leslie Street due to the sound of gunshots.

Police were alerted to the scene after a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, they discovered shell casings but no initial sign of any victims. Around 11 a.m., a separate yet connected incident was reported at 79 Grand Street.

The police investigators have established a connection between the two incidents and have successfully identified the vehicle in which the injured boy was transported. They have strong suspicions that he was involved in the earlier shooting on Leslie Street. As the investigation progresses, no additional information has been disclosed.
