Donald Trump has made a bold promise regarding one of his initial actions if he secures a second term in the White House. Jimmy Fallon can’t help but sense a tinge of villainy in his statement.
“During a recent speech, Former President Trump made a promise that if he were to be reelected, one of his top priorities would be to grant freedom to the Jan. 6 defendants,” revealed the “Tonight Show” host on Monday. He humorously added, “Stores selling antlers and bear spray must have been thrilled at the prospect of an increase in business.”
Fallon chimed in, noting that the individual in question aims to set free all the incarcerated individuals. He humorously remarked, “It’s quite the coincidence when your grand plans align with those of the Joker.”
In a recent post on his social media platform, President Trump expressed his plans for his first acts as the next President. He stated, “I will close the border, drill for energy, and work towards freeing the January 6 hostages who are currently wrongfully imprisoned.”
In the past, he has consistently come to the defense of individuals who were found guilty for their involvement in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. He has even hinted at the possibility of granting pardons to some of them.
According to the Justice Department, over 1,300 individuals have been arrested and charged in relation to the riot, with nearly 500 of them facing charges for assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
