Man Gets Life In Prison For Killing 2 Cousins Outside VB Nightclub

Aiexpress – A man who was convicted of killing two men outside a Virginia Beach nightclub in 2021 will serve the rest of his life in prison.

Trayvon McCoy, a 28-year-old Norfolk man, was sentenced to life without parole plus 43 years on Wednesday, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

The sentencing occurs five months after a jury found McCoy guilty of the following counts, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office:

  • Aggravated murder
  • First-degree murder
  • Two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

During the jury trial, prosecutors said McCoy shot cousins William and Joseph Moore at the Allure nightclub in October 2021. That is near the crossroads of Newtown Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard.

  • Cousins William Moore, 38, and Joseph Moore, 33, accompanied each of their brothers to Allure. They exited the club at roughly 11 p.m.
  • McCoy, who had previously clashed with William Moore, left the club shortly thereafter. He grabbed a weapon from his car and approached William Moore in the parking lot.
  • After a brief conversation, McCoy shot William Moore in the chest. He then shot Joseph Moore in the back as he attempted to flee.
  • McCoy drove away, and William and Joseph perished despite bystanders providing first aid.

The following day, McCoy was detained at a hotel in Virginia Beach. During an interview with officers, he acknowledged shooting both William and Joseph, according to prosecutors. He claimed self-defense despite not seeing a weapon on William or Joseph, according to prosecutors.

Before being jailed for the Allure shooting, he had previously been convicted of cocaine and firearms offenses.
