Nursing Assistant Suspended Due To Credit Card Shopping Spree

Aiexpress – A nursing assistant in Grays Harbor has been suspended for using a patient’s credit card for personal shopping, as reported by the Washington Department of Health.

In December 2023, the Department of Health (DOH) reported that Devan Nicole Wright’s registered nursing assistant license has been suspended by the Secretary of Health. Further legal action is pending in this matter.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), on September 22, 2021, Wright was reportedly asked by a patient to buy her a soda from Walmart. The patient gave Wright a credit card for this purpose. However, Wright allegedly failed to return the credit card after making the purchase. Over the next 24 hours, DOH investigators discovered that Wright made several unauthorized purchases at a steakhouse, Dutch Bros, and a fast food restaurant. The patient canceled her credit card upon learning about these unauthorized transactions, as reported by the DOH.

According to the DOH, on October 14, 2021, Wright reportedly obtained the patient’s replacement credit card and proceeded to make an unauthorized purchase at Walmart.

On November 1, 2021, Wright faced another accusation by the DOH. It was alleged that he had used a different patient’s credit card at Walmart in Bend, Oregon. The unauthorized purchases made with the card included gas, cigarettes, and other items. The DOH investigators determined that the patient in question neither smokes nor owns a vehicle, and has never been to Bend.

In August 2023, the Department of Social and Health Services placed Wright on the long-term care, abuse, and neglect registry for financially exploiting a vulnerable adult after conducting an investigation.

The Department of Health (DOH) has imposed a ban on Wright, prohibiting him from caring for or having unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.
