A man lost his life and several others were injured when a car and a Greyhound bus collided on a road in northern Alabama, as stated by authorities on Tuesday. The bus driver and eight passengers on the bus were among those injured in the tragic incident.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported that the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on Monday.
Sidney C. Benson, a 23-year-old resident of Ardmore, Alabama, tragically lost his life in the accident. According to authorities, Benson’s SUV was struck by the bus, causing it to veer off the road and flip over.
A total of eight passengers, hailing from Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and South Carolina, along with the bus driver, sustained injuries in the incident. They were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. As of Tuesday, six of the passengers had already been discharged from the hospital, according to a statement by Greyhound.
The accident occurred on Pinedale Road, approximately 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) southeast of Ardmore. The bus was en route from Tallahassee, Florida, to Nashville, Tennessee, according to the company.
