Pedestrian fatality on Highway 18 in Apple Valley

San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials reported that a vehicle fatally struck a 55-year-old man as he was crossing Highway 18 in Apple Valley.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, deputies and firefighters from Apple Valley swiftly responded to a collision that occurred at the intersection of Pawnee Road and Highway 18, just east of Navajo Road.

Both the driver of the Toyota and the driver of the Dodge escaped unharmed. According to the police, the crash was not influenced by drugs or alcohol.

The major accident investigation team of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and carried out a thorough investigation.

Highway 18 underwent a closure lasting approximately five hours as investigators meticulously combed through the area to gather evidence. The closure, which spanned the stretch between Navajo and Quinnault roads, was necessary to ensure a thorough investigation of the scene.
