According to the outlet, officers confirmed in November that water and gas service had been turned off. Additionally, Bogrodd’s son had been frequently reported absent and late to school.

According to the news release, Bogroff’s son informed the officers that she had been away from home for approximately a month. He further mentioned that she would occasionally return home without informing him of her plans.

According to the news release from the officers, the house was described as “cluttered, with trash and spoiled/rotten food.” Additionally, the son was found to have two dogs and a cat, as reported by WKEF.

According to the news release, he reportedly admitted to officers that he had trouble waking up in the morning and often found it challenging to attend school because he felt isolated.

According to the news release, Bogroff’s son had access to food through the occasional financial support his father provided via CashApp. Additionally, he relied on a relative to take him to the grocery store, where he could purchase supplies, and then back to their home for personal hygiene purposes such as showering and washing clothes. PEOPLE has reached out to the Manheim Township Police Department for their response to this situation.

Bogroff is presently being detained at the Salem County Correctional Facility without being arraigned. She awaits extradition, as stated in the news release.
