Trial For ‘home Alone’ Star’s Assault Case In Oklahoma Canceled Due To Actor’s Hospitalization

Aiexpress – The trial for domestic assault involving Devin Ratray, known for his role in “Home Alone,” has been canceled. This decision was made after it was revealed that Ratray had been hospitalized in critical condition in New York.

Ratray, who is now 47 years old, portrayed the character of Buzz McAllister in the beloved Christmas film from 1990 and its sequel in 1992. Currently residing in New York, he has continued his acting career.

Jury selection for his felony case was set to commence on Monday at the Oklahoma County District Court.

Last week, District Judge Kathryn Savage issued an order stating that the trial setting was canceled due to hospitalization. The case has been rescheduled for the Feb. 21 pretrial conference docket, where further negotiations will take place.

Ratray is currently hospitalized due to heart issues, as confirmed by his defense attorney, Scott Adams. According to his family, he is currently in an intensive care unit.

In 2021, Ratray faced serious charges, including a felony count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, as well as a misdemeanor count of domestic assault and battery.

According to the affidavit, Ratray was attending the “Oklahoma Pop Christmas Con” in Oklahoma City. He grew furious with his girlfriend when she freely handed out “autograph cards” to two women at a bar.

According to the affidavit, Ratray indulged in a bottle of wine and multiple shots of alcohol at Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse. Additionally, he proceeded to consume ten more shots of alcohol at the Coyote Ugly Saloon.

During the preliminary hearing in 2022, the ex-girlfriend shared her harrowing experience, recounting her belief that she was on the brink of death while inside the hotel room.

According to her, Ratray had agreed to participate in the Oklahoma City event due to facing eviction from his New York apartment and being in need of money.

According to a transcript, she testified that Devin doesn’t want to be remembered for something he did 30 years ago. Throughout his life, it has been a source of conflict for him.

During our dating days, I often encountered this issue. My partner had never participated in conventions before because he wanted to avoid promoting his role in ‘Home Alone.’

“He was not happy about being there and being perceived as ‘Buzz’ anyways,” she expressed her annoyance.

The defense attorney argued during the 2022 hearing that it was she who was angry because Ratray had been flirting with the two fans at the Coyote Ugly Saloon.

The attorney also confirmed that she did not inform the initial police officer about any signs of strangulation.

In an unusual twist of fate, Macaulay Culkin, the beloved actor known for his role in the “Home Alone” films, found himself entangled in a legal matter in Oklahoma County District Court.

In 2004, Culkin faced misdemeanor drug charges when Oklahoma City police discovered marijuana and Xanax during a routine traffic stop. He admitted guilt the following year and received a one-year probationary sentence.
