Woman arrested in connection to deadly wrong-way crash in Upstate denied bond

A judge denied bond for a woman accused of killing two people by driving the wrong way down the interstate, ensuring that she will remain in jail.

Brittany Dashia Campbell is set to appear in court for a bond hearing at 9:30 a.m. She is facing two charges of felony DUI involving death and one charge of driving under suspension.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that a collision took place on Jan. 14 at approximately 3:14 a.m. The incident occurred on I-385 southbound near the 31-mile marker.

Campbell sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

During Monday’s hearing, troopers characterized this incident as the most severe crime and requested that the judge refuse to grant bond for Campbell.

Jones’ mother expressed the profound loss her family experienced, describing her daughter as a “major star.” She acknowledged that Campbell possesses certain rights that neither her daughter nor Hagood will ever have.
