The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has reported that the driver who initiated a pursuit, ultimately resulting in a collision with a sheriff’s vehicle and a prolonged standoff in Bellflower, has been apprehended.
LASD reported that sheriff’s deputies on their regular patrol spotted a stolen Dodge Charger at a motel on Thursday. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver collided with a patrol vehicle and hastily sought refuge inside the motel.
Witnesses vividly remember the deafening noise that filled the air when the pursuit suspect forcefully collided with the authorities at the climax of the chase on Thursday.
“I heard the impact,” one witness vividly described to NBC4, as if it occurred out of nowhere, with a sudden and resounding “Boom!”
After approximately two hours, the suspect chose to surrender to the authorities at around 12:30 p.m. Ultimately, a total of three individuals emerged from the motel, resulting in the subsequent arrests of two of them.
Several individuals, whose identities have not been disclosed, are being charged with offenses that include assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and vehicular assault.
There were no reported injuries.
