Apalachin Resident Charged Following a Rollover Crash on Vestal Parkway

A driver faced charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and multiple traffic violations after being involved in a vehicle crash on the Vestal Parkway close to the former Chucksters Fun Park.

The rollover crash occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday on Route 434, west of Castle Gardens Road, according to authorities.

When the first Vestal police officer arrived at the scene, he discovered a vehicle overturned in a patch of bushes along the Vestal Parkway West, situated between Owego Road and Parkwood Road. The officer immediately noticed that the roof of the vehicle had been severely crushed, resulting in a state of “heavy entrapment.”

The officer approached the driver and interacted with her. The Vestal firefighters skillfully rescued her from the damaged vehicle. Afterwards, the Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad promptly transported her to the hospital for evaluation.

Vestal police have charged Myrtho Jones of Apalachin, a 42-year-old driver, with eight vehicle and traffic violations.

The driver faced several charges including driving while intoxicated, not wearing a seatbelt, and refusing a roadside breath test. Additionally, the driver was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving an uninspected vehicle.

The police department did not provide any details about the circumstances surrounding the crash in their release.

Located near the entrance to CK’Sters Fun Park, the scene unfolded at the business formerly known as Chucksters, which underwent a name change after its sale in August 2022.
