Biden To Meet With Teamsters Members In March As Group Considers Endorsing Him

Aiexpress – President Biden has scheduled a meeting with both the leadership and rank-and-file members of the Teamsters next month at the union’s headquarters in Washington. This meeting holds significant importance as the organization contemplates endorsing a candidate for the presidential race.

President Biden is scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion with members of the Teamsters on March 12, according to a press release from the union. During this event, he will engage with the members, as well as the general executive board and the union’s president, Sean O’Brien.

“We understand that President Biden has a busy schedule, and we are grateful that he is prioritizing a meeting with the Teamsters. Our members and leaders are excited to engage in a discussion about the future of our nation and the necessary commitments that working individuals require from our future President,” stated O’Brien.

Teamsters officials have previously had meetings with former President Trump, the leading candidate for the GOP nomination, as well as third-party candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West.

According to O’Brien, the Teamsters aim to ensure that the voices of their members are heard and that elected officials recognize the influence of the Teamsters vote.

The Teamsters endorsed Biden in 2020 but have not yet made an endorsement for 2024.

Biden takes pride in being hailed as the most pro-union president in history. He consistently acknowledges the crucial role played by union labor in shaping the foundation of the U.S. economy. Demonstrating his support, Biden even joined striking United Auto Workers members on the picket line in September, a move that further garnered the group’s endorsement earlier this year.

Trump has attempted to erode some of Biden’s support for organized labor, but he has feuded with UAW president Shawn Fain after the group declined to support the former president in 2024, labeling him a “dope.”

When asked about a possible endorsement from the Teamsters, Trump stated that “stranger things have happened” following his meeting with officials earlier this year.
