The last O’Charleys location in Alabama closed over the weekend, marking the end of an era for the state.
The chain’s own website has confirmed that the restaurant is now permanently closed.
According to a report from al.com, the O’Charleys restaurant in Decatur is the only remaining location open in the state of Alabama. The last Birmingham area restaurant closed in November 2023, while the locations in Prattville, Foley, and Daphne also reportedly closed in the same year.
According to a report from Restaurant Business, more than 50 stores across the country had been closed by the chain by August 23, 2023.
In 1971, Charlie Watkins founded the relaxed chain restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. Over the years, it has expanded to have locations in 13 states, excluding Alabama, which no longer has O’Charley’s.
