Donald Trump Wins Illinois GOP primary

Former President Trump emerged victorious in the Republican primary in Illinois, as reported by Decision Desk HQ.

Trump has already met the delegate barrier required to capture the Republican candidacy for 2024, and his victory in the Prairie State extends his GOP winning streak. According to Decision Desk HQ/The Hill’s tracker, there are 64 GOP delegates up for grabs in Illinois.

President Biden has secured the Democratic nomination and is on track to gain a significant number of delegates from the state, paving the way for a potential rematch in 2024.

Biden defeated Trump in Illinois by about 17 points in 2020, but Trump lost the state to previous Democratic contender Hillary Clinton in 2016.
