Donald Trump Wins Ohio GOP primary

Former President Trump has emerged victorious in the Ohio Republican presidential primary, as reported by Decision Desk HQ.

In the winner-take-all primary, Trump, who is already the presumptive GOP nominee for president, will secure all 79 delegates available in the state. Notably, he was the sole active candidate listed on the ballot.

In 2016, Trump lost the Ohio primary by approximately 11 points to then-Gov. John Kasich (R). Before receiving a renomination for president in 2020, he ran unopposed in the state’s primary.

Ohio has become more Republican in recent years, voting for Trump in the general election in 2016 and 2020 after previously voting for former President Obama in 2008 and 2012.

Despite a very contested Senate race, the state is expected to turn red in the presidential election this November.
