FDNY Battling High-rise Fire in Harlem, At Least Two People Injured

Aiexpress – A fire broke out in a high-rise building in Harlem on Monday night, and the FDNY is currently working to extinguish it.

A citizen captured a video that shows flames erupting from an apartment located at 720 Lenox Ave.

According to the FDNY, the fire ignited at approximately 10 p.m. on the 16th floor of the building.

A tenant residing on the floor below spotted the fire and successfully evacuated her family.

Rashima Clarke recalled the harrowing moment when she realized they had to flee from the fire. Urgency filled her voice as she exclaimed, “Let’s grab our clothes and go! We don’t have time to think!” She immediately woke her sleeping son and together they hurriedly left their home. Desperate to alert their neighbors, they began banging on doors, shouting, “Fire! Get out! Get out!” The urgency spread, and soon everyone was gathering their belongings and evacuating.

Two individuals sustained injuries, but there is currently no update on their condition.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
