Federal Prosecutors Charge 40 People After 4 year Investigation Of Drug Trafficking In Mississippi

Aiexpress – Approximately 40 individuals with ties to various states and Mexico were apprehended on Tuesday following a four-year long federal investigation that uncovered several drug trafficking operations in eastern Mississippi, as stated by federal prosecutors.

Ten individuals have been indicted in the U.S. Southern District of Mississippi on charges of distributing illicit drugs, including methamphetamine and cocaine. The indictments encompass a range of drug trafficking offenses, such as possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy.

“In a news release, Todd W. Gee, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi, delivered a direct message to the drug traffickers still operating in East Mississippi. He warned them to either exit the illicit business or face the same fate as those arrested today, which ultimately means spending a significant portion of their lives behind bars.”

Law enforcement agents confiscated significant amounts of methamphetamine pills, liquid methamphetamine, crystal methamphetamine, powder cocaine, and crack cocaine during the investigation, according to Gee. Additionally, investigators reported the seizure of cash and firearms. In a particular operation, agents successfully seized approximately $50,000 in cash, along with weapons and narcotics.

According to prosecutors, some of the defendants face charges for engaging in a methamphetamine drug offense in the presence of children. Additionally, there are individuals who have been charged with making threats to kill someone using an explosive device.
