Friday night, police say one person was murdered in a shooting at a convenience store in Kansas City

Police have identified the victim as 24-year-old Torrie’aunn Ruth.

According to the police, a fatal shooting occurred on Friday evening inside a convenience store in Kansas City’s North Town Fork Creek neighborhood.

According to Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police, officers were sent to the Country View Market on Swope Parkway at around 6 p.m. in response to a disturbance report.

The authorities have not yet apprehended a suspect.

According to Becchina, initial reports from witnesses indicated that there was a disagreement between the victim of the gunshot and another individual inside the store. This argument quickly turned into a shooting incident.

Detectives and crime scene personnel carried on with their search for evidence and witnesses throughout Friday night. It was on Saturday morning when the victim was finally identified by the police. Becchina mentioned that the detectives are making progress in identifying a potential suspect.

According to The Star’s data, the recent killing in Kansas City is the fourth homicide of 2024. Last year, the city experienced its deadliest year on record, with 185 lives lost.
