On the morning of January 5th, Southeast Texas experienced the effects of a cold front that resulted in the formation of an EF-0 tornado.
According to the NWS, the tornado hit the southeast side of Brazoria Reservoir around 6 a.m.

According to NWS officials, the main indicators of damage included trees that were broken or uprooted, power lines that were damaged, and minor structural damage to homes in the vicinity.
This marks the first confirmed tornado in the Continental United States (CONUS) in 2024, based on preliminary findings.
