Aiexpress – United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and his colleagues have put forward a bill that aims to promptly deport undocumented immigrants who commit DUI offenses.
A group of Republican lawmakers has presented the Protect Our Communities From DUIs Act, a proposed legislation aimed at preventing the entry of illegal immigrants who have committed DUI offenses into the United States. Additionally, the bill seeks to establish a mechanism for the automatic deportation of illegal immigrants who commit DUI offenses within the country. This initiative aims to safeguard our communities from the potential dangers associated with drunk driving incidents involving illegal immigrants.
As of now, illegal immigrants who are convicted of DUIs are not automatically deported.
Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL-02) introduced companion legislation (H.R.6976) in the U.S. House of Representatives, which received support from all Republicans and 59 Democrats, according to Hagerty’s office.
The legislation has the support of 11 other Senators, including Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
“Our nation is seeing a surge in violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, and they are not being held accountable,” said Sen. Hagerty. “It is unconscionable that illegal immigrants that break our laws and endanger our communities are allowed to remain in the U.S. President Biden and Democrats’ willingness to pursue far-left immigration policies at the expense of Americans’ safety must end, and I’m pleased to introduce this commonsense legislation that would strengthen our ability to hold illegal immigrants accountable and protect our citizens.”

She emphasized that in just this week alone, there has been a notable increase in preventable violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants with previous criminal records. Senator Hagerty’s proposed legislation is a crucial step towards restoring law and order by mandating the immediate deportation of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to communities by driving under the influence.”
