Hunter Biden Criticizes GOP’s ‘House of Cards of Lies’ Ahead of Testimony

Aiexpress – Hunter Biden criticized Republican attempts to impeach his father on Wednesday, labeling the investigation as a “destructive political charade” and the alleged evidence as a “house of cards of lies.”

In his opening remarks before the House Judiciary and Oversight & Accountability Committees, Joe Biden’s son firmly denied any wrongdoing in his various roles as a businessman, lawyer, investor, and artist.

“For more than a year, your Committees have hunted me in your partisan political pursuit of my dad,” Biden said in a prepared statement released ahead of his testimony. “You have trafficked in innuendo, distortion and sensationalism — all the while ignoring the clear and convincing evidence staring you in the face.”

Democrats agreed. “What we saw was a rather embarrassing spectacle where Republicans continued to belabor completely trivial points,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said during a break in the proceedings. “I believe based on this first hour that this whole thing has been a tremendous waste of our legislative time and the people’s resources.”

The Joe Biden impeachment investigation began in September, with House Republicans alleging that his son’s business connections constitute evidence of the president’s corruption. Republican charges included Hunter Biden’s appointment to the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy business, as well as other connected conspiracies. Hunter Biden stated on Wednesday that impeachment advocates’ evidence was distorted, dishonest, and decontextualized.

“Republicans have taken my communications out of context, relied on documents that have been altered, and cherry-picked snippets of financial or other records to misrepresent what really happened,” the senator stated.

Biden also voiced his criticism towards several important witnesses. This includes Gal Luft, the leader of an Israeli think tank who was arrested on charges of being a foreign agent. He also targeted Jason Galanis, a financier who is currently serving a 14-year sentence for financial crimes. Additionally, Alexander Smirnov, a former FBI informant who was recently arrested on fraud charges, was also criticized by Biden. Another witness, Tony Bobulinski, who was a former business partner of Biden, has faced widespread discreditation for his claims, although he has not faced any criminal prosecution.

Smirnov, who was indicted on February 15, is accused of providing false testimony to the FBI regarding the Biden family. He was apprehended in Las Vegas. A subsequent filing by the DOJ disclosed that Smirnov had been in communication with various Russian agents while serving as an FBI informant. These revelations have essentially invalidated his testimony, which included a document alleging that the Biden family had accepted millions in bribes. As a result, Republicans are now working to salvage their investigation.

In his testimony on Wednesday, Biden asserted that it should bring an end to the impeachment inquiry. He labeled the entire process as a waste of valuable time and resources.

According to Biden, instead of examining the facts presented in bank records, financial statements, correspondence, and witness testimony, some individuals persistently search for evidence to support the falsehoods they promote. Biden categorically refers to these claims as lies.
