In KCMO, three southbound lanes of Interstate 435 are closed due to a fatal multi-vehicle crash

According to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, a fatal accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 435 at Eastwood Trafficway in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) was alerted to the collision at approximately 1:32 p.m. The accident involved a semi-truck with a trailer and a pick-up truck.

The Kansas City Police Department spokesperson revealed that their investigation determined that a Mack semi had come to a stop in the “#2” lane of northbound I-435 due to a mechanical problem. In the same lane, a Ford F150 was also heading northbound when it collided with the rear end of the stationary semi.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), the driver of the Ford was declared dead at the crash site. Fortunately, the driver of the semi truck did not sustain any injuries.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, crews worked to clear the scene on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the closure of three northbound lanes of traffic.
