In South Jersey, the 6ABC helicopter crashed

A news helicopter crashed on Tuesday night in the Wharton State Forest in Washington Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.

State police made a discovery in the early hours of the morning when they stumbled upon the wreckage in a wooded area off Mullica River Road.

The chopper was hired by U.S. Helicopters and operated under 6ABC WPVI.

The helicopter crashed after 8 p.m., resulting in the tragic loss of the pilot and photographer. Both individuals were contracted with U.S. Helicopters and were a valued part of the 6ABC family.

The chopper crashed while the crew was returning from an assignment in Galloway Township, according to 6ABC.

The NTSB and FAA have been notified and are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic crash.
