Jack “Poochie” Snyder: A Legendary Era in Ohio High School Football

The era of high school football has come to an end for the talented multi-sport athlete, Jack “Poochie” Snyder. It has been an incredible journey for him, as he emerged as one of Stark County’s most exciting athletes. Now, we will have the opportunity to witness his skills at Sacred Heart University, a prestigious Roman Catholic institution in Fairfield, Connecticut. This Division I member school, affiliated with the NCAA, competes in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

Snyder made significant achievements as the quarterback for the Canton South Wildcats. Prior to his time, the team had never won a conference championship in the span of 59 years. Jack “Poochie” Snyder led his team to an exceptional season, going undefeated with a record of 10-0. IV 2023 State Champion Glenville Tarblooders, they put up a valiant fight, ultimately losing 42-21. Despite this loss, Snyder and his talented teammates finished the season with an impressive record of 14-1.

In addition to the team’s achievements, his individual contributions did not go unnoticed. He was recognized as a finalist for Ohio Mr. Football and received honors such as Div. IV All-Ohio and Div. IV Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He was also named Repository Stark County Player of the Year, WHBC Player of the Year, and PAC-7 Player of the Year. Furthermore, he set records in Stark County for career passing yards (11,083) and touchdowns (122).
