Colorado officials have once again accused Jenna Ellis, who previously served as an attorney for former President Donald Trump, of professional misconduct. They have taken the step of requesting a state judge to impose further disciplinary action against her.
Colorado Attorney Regulation Counsel Jessica Yates has filed an accusation against a lawyer in Colorado for alleged misconduct. The filing was submitted to Presiding Disciplinary Judge Bryon M. Large, who is responsible for overseeing lawyer discipline cases in the state.
In the past year, Ellis faced censure from the judge due to her misconduct. This misconduct was related to the “misrepresentations” she made while serving as a senior legal advisor to Trump during his efforts to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election.

In response to Ellis’ guilty plea to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings in a Fulton County, Georgia case linked to Trump’s alleged attempt to retain power, new allegations have emerged. Yates confirmed to Newsline in October that Ellis’ guilty plea prompted her office to initiate another investigation.
In a text message to Newsline, Ellis expressed his thoughts, stating, “I believed I had already resolved all of this nearly a year ago. I am determined to vigorously defend myself against this complaint and I have full confidence that once all the facts are revealed, I will come out victorious.”
According to the States United Democracy Center, which, along with Lawyers Defending American Democracy, had previously requested disciplinary action against Ellis, a copy of the complaint has been provided to Newsline. The complaint calls for Ellis to be appropriately disciplined for his misconduct and to take any other necessary remedial actions.
According to the complaint, the Colorado court has jurisdiction over a Colorado attorney regardless of where the lawyer’s conduct occurs or where the lawyer resides, as stated in the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure.
During the meeting in December 2020, Ellis and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani met with members of the Georgia Senate Judiciary Subcommittee. They made false statements, including claims about thousands of people in Georgia voting illegally. The criminal conviction in Georgia is based on these false statements.
The complaint states that by pleading guilty, Ellis has acknowledged her involvement in a criminal act that raises concerns about her integrity, reliability, and suitability as a lawyer. It further requests the court to take disciplinary action against her for violating the professional conduct rules in Georgia.
When asked about the potential consequences of the case, including the possibility of disbarment for Ellis, Yates responded via email stating, “The complaints filed by the People through the Office of the Attorney Regulation Counsel accuse conduct that breaches the rules of professional conduct. However, the specific form of discipline that will be pursued by the People has not been identified.”
According to her social media posts, Ellis recently relocated from Colorado to Florida. The complaint reveals that she is licensed to practice law in Colorado and has a registered business address in Denver.
