Man Accused Of Killing Worcester Mom And Daughter Will Not Fight Return To Massachusetts: District Attorney

Dejan Belnavis, aged 27, and Karel Mangual, aged 28, allegedly launched an ambush on the Nunezes while they were seated in their SUV near the intersection of Lisbon Street and Englewood Avenue on March 5, according to the Worcester police.

Belnavis was apprehended by US Marshalls on Monday, March 11, in the vicinity of the San Diego Zoo. Authorities have charged him with armed assault with intent to commit murder and unlawfully carrying a firearm. It is anticipated that his charges will be elevated to murder once he is extradited back to Massachusetts.

Mangual, who was charged with murder and other offenses, was arrested the day after the fatal shooting. Despite the charges, he pleaded not guilty to all of them, according to the prosecutor.

Mangual remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 12th.

The motive for the killing has not been revealed by the police.
